Public Items

Introduction

Creating public items is useful for offering items to anyone, anywhere, even if they do not have a child in the school or district. All they require is the SchoolCash Online URL for your district.

Examples of Public Items

Examples of events and items that can be posted in SchoolCash Online as Public:

  • Theatre production, prom, fun fair, or game.
  • School gear, fundraiser items, or yearbooks from previous years.

Ease of Use

It’s easy to use:

  • The purchaser selects the Items tab from the SchoolCash Online webpage. Items made Public in the SchoolCash Catalog are visible to the purchaser.
  • The purchaser can buy the item for themselves or enter a name in ‘Who are you purchasing this for?’ This information appears on SchoolCash Catalog reports.
  • The purchaser can create an account or use the Guest Checkout option to pay online, and the system tracks payments and issues receipts. It is fast, secure, and easy!

Reminders

Reminder:

  • Attach Public items to your students. Why? It ensures your school community is ‘in the know.’ Parents will help promote the event or item within their circle.
  • When the items are attached to students, parents receive automated notifications and reminders.

Best Practice

  • The School Name is to be included at the beginning of the item name, as well as in the description. Why? More than one school may offer the item or event. Adding the school’s name confirms the school from which the item is being purchased.
  • Select Only Public from the SchoolCash Catalog status field. Review items to ensure they are public.
