Introduction

This article explains how to install a SIM card on a SchoolCash POS device and confirm its connectivity. Follow the steps below to properly insert the SIM card and configure the device settings.

Installing the SIM Card

  1. Power off the terminal.
  2. Unlock and remove the back cover.
  3. Remove the battery.
  4. Insert the SIM card into the slot labeled SIM1 with the gold connectors face-down and the cut corner facing the bottom left side (see the graphic on the terminal).
  5. Replace the battery.
  6. Replace and lock the back cover.
  7. Power on the terminal.

Confirming Connectivity

  1. Check if the terminal connects to the network.
  2. If the terminal does not have a connection, follow these steps to confirm or update the communication settings in Android Settings:
    1. From the main Android screen, tap the Settings icon (gear).
    2. Tap the Password field to access the on-screen keypad and enter the password: pax9876@@.
    3. Tap the green checkmark, then select OK.
    4. If Wi-Fi is ON, toggle it OFF to prioritize mobile data.
    5. Tap Data usage and ensure the Mobile Data toggle is set to ON.
    6. If the Mobile Data toggle is missing, tap the back arrow and select SIM Card.
    7. If SIM 1 is grayed out and displays SIM empty, reinstall the SIM card.
    8. Return to the Settings menu by tapping the back arrow.
    9. Select More, then tap Mobile networks. If this option is grayed out, reinstall the SIM card.
    10. Scroll down and tap Access Point Names (APN).
    11. If the APN is incorrect, tap to edit or add a new APN by tapping the plus icon (+).
    12. Enter the following details:
      • Name: Telnyx
      • APN: data00.telnyx
    13. Tap the circle icon at the bottom of the screen to return to the main screen.
  3. Confirm connectivity and perform a test transaction to ensure the terminal is working.
